We're enjoying a crazy summer (already), before Kate starts Kindergarten (ALREADY!!?) this fall. Our kids are so much fun, and we are SO blessed! If you want to browse our pictures, you can do so at our new Google Picasa album). |

This hilarious conversation just happened in our house, and I just had to share! Kate is so fully girl, it's adorable. She's always telling us her favorite colors are pink and purple, and she gets super excited about skirts, shoes, purses, tights, dresses.
Scene: Kyla is getting dressed.
Kate: What's that?
Kyla: My tights.
Kate: Ooh...PRETTY!
They're pretty black...black is my new favorite color!
Kyla: Oh, really? Black is the new pink?
(we chuckle at the humor way over Kate's head)
Kate: Yeah! I'm going to tell Miss Karin (her teacher) that black is the new pink!
Of course, this leaves us in stitches. So since then, she's been walking around the house saying, "Black is the new pink!" She's poking her head around corners and saying "Daddy, black is the new pink" just for the reaction.
Too cute.
Have a great Thursday!

Ian started saying his first word last week: "Mama". Since the "ma" sound can just be babble also, we didn't call it until we were convinced...but he says it to get Kyla's attention, very purposefully. So far, Michael is still just "crawl over and tap the leg", so we'll see what comes next :)
On a side note, Chipotle opens up today, which we're very excited about, but Kyla got an invitation to the soft opening yesterday.

Thanks to Michael's co-worker, Mike, for that bib, which reads, "When I get teef, take me to Chipotle!"

Well, we've officially got two mobile kiddos! Over the last week or so, Ian went from, "I think we can call this crawling" to, "I'll get anywhere I darn well please, thank you very much"! He still ends up on his tummy to scoot here and there, but that's going away quickly, and he just keeps picking up more and more speed!
Anyway, we had an awesome Christmas season this year - we did Christmas down at Grammy's house this year, then stopped and spent a few hours with my grandparents before scooting home to see Daniel and trade around one more round of gifts. Then Daniel got the biggest surprise of all - his girlfriend, who in her own words, "was supposed to be home safe and sound" across the country, walked through the door! He was in such shock that he just sat at the table where he had been sitting, his mouth open, staring for several minutes as we all traded hugs, laughter and greetings before he could move!
But even Christmas has to come to an end - last weekend we took down our tree and reclaimed our living room, which is nice.
Anyway, 2011 is off and running, and we're expecting it to be a really exciting year! I think God's got some big things in store for our lives - personally and through church...and we can't wait to watch them happen!
We love you all, and I'm sure Kyla will keep up with the snapshots and quick updates - she's so good at that!
